About China Buffet East Liberty

China Buffet East Liberty is a chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 6401 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, which places it among the local businesses of Pittsburgh that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as buffet restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Pittsburgh; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Pennsylvania are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–9:30 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach China Buffet East Liberty at (412) 362-8622; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.

Its Google rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 595 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

last night my sister & I came in for take out. chicken was super hard and chewy. The sides were cool but my sister ended up getting sick and have a bad stomachache this morning. Called and asked for our 30$ back but they claimed they don’t give out refunds. please avoid coming here for the meat at all cost.

3.5 stars. China Buffet is an all-you-can-eat Chinese-American buffet in a strip mall. The prices are reasonable. I ate one lunch here, including a spring roll, crab rangoon, chicken and broccoli, rice and shrimp, desserts, and more. I thought that all of these foods were fresh and tasted good.

I have no idea how this place had such a high rating. I visited at an off hour so I wasn't expecting the freshest food but I was still very disappointed. The Good: probably the best wonton soup I have ever had...that is what earned it the 2 stars it has. The Bad: everything else. Variety, taste, freshness. The vast majority of the dishes were chicken. One dish of beef with onions and peppers (the pan was full but I only saw 4 small pieces of beef). No other beef dishes. No pork dishes. Stuffed shrimp that was bland. Some kind of fish that looked dry. Terrible variety of protein. Sides were unimpressive; crab wonton was so stale that it was tough. Rice was dry. No egg rolls. Spring rolls weren't bad. Lo mein had been out so long it was starting to fall apart. Broccoli in the Broccoli and chicken was good, but it makes me wonder of it had started out undercooked. Desert was a small sampling of typical Chinese buffet items. Nothing unique but typical and what was expected. For >$15 this was a ripoff. That includes a drink but I always drink water. I won't be back and wish I had gone somewhere else or maybe had started with the wonton soup and had only that.

I came here on Sunday around dinner time and for lunch earlier today. The cashier at the front was friendly and made sure we were taken care of as soon as we came in. The food selection on Sunday’s visit was a little slim and unfortunately, because of it being a less busy time, the food was lukewarm and I didn’t really enjoy it. Thankfully, today’s experience was slightly better because I tried to come at a peak dining time. I could see myself coming back again, but only for lunch time.
